Orientation week went amazing, all 5 of the students got here safe and sound. Please be keeping them in your prayers, their names are Jena, Windy, Morgan, Shavi and then we have Brent our only guy student.
For orientation week we had some sweet time in the Word of God, discussing the semester theme, which is “let your light shine,” Ryan (the director) used the clay oil lamp as an example, he explained how the lamp itself is just clay, just dirt, and in itself has no properties to conduct light, but if you fill it with oil (a picture through out the bible of the Holy Spirt) that changes the whole story, but you still aren’t on fire yet you are filled, you have the Holy Spirit but you’re not on fire (baptized by fire),Ryan related this to the average believer, but then when you are light a blaze, that being the baptism of the Holy Spirit... then all of a sudden that clay lamp, that dirt is a light...but that light is obviously not the dirts light but rather God’s light, a mirror of Jesus who in the Book of John is called the light...
So for the rest of the week we...

First we cruised into "the center" showed them around town, and helped them pick up
some of the essential for living in Costa Rica and for their classes that couldn't fit in the suit case

(starting from the left:Paula,Ryan,Morgan, Shavi, Brent, Aaron, Jena,Windy, and then Nessy)
Next on the list was Waterfalls!!
But nothing good comes easy right?... first the 6 mile hike.

The hike was great, God's creation is amazing and awe-inspring...
WE MADE IT!!

Monkey see...
Monkey do...

Now how do I get down?...

I  guess this works... =]
But for reals Nauyaca was beautiful, it was cool as a team/family enjoying God's creation and having a blast.

Dominical! So after Nauyaca the next day went took a bus down to Dominical...
Which is a beach town in Southern CR.

We meet up with a missionary friend down there, who owns a burger joint right off the beach, and on sundays they close the kitchen, and do sunday morn church service.

THis my friends is a huge burger!

The next week we started classes, Aaron (the other intern whom I am co-teaching with) started us off with Ephesians. Then on Tuesday nights Darwin, teaches our bilingual class, he’s going through the book of Daniel. I set up the AV for this class. We do it at night because most locals are working and nights fit there schedules easiest.  Wednesday morning is John Class with Ryan Slabach the director of the campus, he is who I’m interning under. Thursday are evangelism class Gerry Carrilo, they are currently planing and learning how to put together and raise money for a out reach that will happen latter in the semester.  Then on Fridays our last day of classes we have Spanish class in the mornings (this is also on Tuesday mornings before Daniel) taught by Paula Rojas. Fridays we also do some kind of community service. Saturday is more or less a free day but then sundays we have an evening service in Spanish open to the public...

Here is John class (wednesday, 4hour class)

Studying for my first class, in town at a local coffee shop.

That's Darwin teaching Daniel (Tuesday night 3 hour class)

This is right before the sunday night Bible study

More studying... this time in the backyard

Doing my laundry air dry, works great!

Here is me and Brent being the goof ball we are, it's been awesome getting to know him more, especially with him being the only guy student...
Happy Birthday to me!! I'm officially not a teenage any more! haha I'm glad I got to spend my birthday here, I missed a lot of people buteveryone made it special, we made brownies (my favorite) and all had dinner together. It was a blessing for sure.
Awesome ceiling and walls huh?!

And it was nice to get packages and letters thanks friends and family... Mallory sent me some home made jelly. It's amazing!!

And the day finally came! My first class, everything seemed to go well...except for ending an hour early, but I know  I have a lot to improve but I'm enjoying studying and learning how teach and not just teach but be a vessel for the Lord to speak to the students that He has sent out here to be in this class...

Thank you guys for your prayers and contribution to me being here, it's such a blessing.

Things to keep in prayer for me would be:

  • I teach class this next monday, pray that I can get out of the way and let the Holy Spirit speak through me, and that I speak with authority and confidence in the Lord.
  • Pray that I can pick up spanish, it would be such a blessing
  • And like I said keep the students in prayer, the majority of them are having a time with the language barrier, and adjusting from being so far away from home and what's familiar... (as am I).
  • Another thing would be the evangelism out reach that the students are planing and for legitimate  community service opportunities for the student as well.
  • Another thing that you can keep in prayer is the Panama vista trip we're going on Nov.5th-9th... the plan is to drive down to my grandparent in San Carlos, pray we can figure out transportation and all the logistics for the trip...
Thanks again for reading all of this, you guys are a blessing to me. I love you all.

Abiding under His wing,
Kory
